Back of page 63 from Houses in Lincoln 100 Years Old and Over with Some of Their Owners (copy 2). White piece of paper adhered to page with handwritten text. Text explains the history of the Smith House (See also, Farrar_064.jpg) as follows: "Smith House (From Old New England pam.(?), Jan 1989). Land sold 1693 by Francis Fletcher to Benj. Whittemore. House built about 1693. 1. Whittemore - d. 1734. w. Esther lived in west end. s. Nathaniel (lived in) east (end). 2. Eliz. Dodge - 1758 wed of Wm. Dodge. 3. Catharine Salmon (step daughter of Wm. Dodge) 1770 married Wm. Smith (Capt.) 4. Rev. Wm. Smith of Weymouth (father of Capt. Wm. Smith) deeded land in 1771. Capt. Smith died 1787 and Catharine Louisa and her daughter Lousia Catharine Smith lived there for a few years. Went to live with her sister-in-law Abagail Adams in Quincy. Died there and is buried beside Wm. Smith (husband). Sister (?) Adams in Adams family vault in Quincy. v. Foster, James - husband of Elizabeth Smith d.f. Wm & Catherine Louisa, 1875." |
