An 1881 African American graduate of Framingham Normal School, Olivia Davidson married Booker T. Washington and helped him found the Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University), where a building has been named in her honor. A true pioneer throughout her life, she lived and worked in various areas of the country, including Virginia, Ohio, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and Massachusetts, until she died of tuberculosis in 1889. |
