For over 150 years, the Public Library of Brookline has maintained a strong dedication to service, access and leadership.

Our goal for the future is to build on that foundation for which we have been entrusted. The Brookline Room of the library houses a special non-circulating collection dedicated to the compilation and preservation of materials pertaining to Brookline - past, present and future. By participating in the Digital Commonwealth, we hope to preserve and share the resources we treasure. Our first installment is just part of a large collection of postcards and photographs (mainly views of Brookline from the late 1800s through the early 1900s) that were donated to the library in the late 1920s by Town Clerk Edward W. Baker, and make up the core of our photograph collection. In the near future, we hope to add more images from the library collections and that of the town’s Preservation Commission.
